Dilate

Dilate

I had a prescription for 1% cyclopentolate to dilate my right eye overnight  & again in the
morning before I went to see him........also,he gave me a prescription for  1%pred forte to be put in each hour.
After the appt.  he said to continue the regeme of using pred forte every hour for a day and then go to every 2 hrs after that...  My question is why is my right eye still dilated 10 hrs afterwards... is this normal and is it still dilated because of the pred forte?  I would call the office, but it is Sat night!  I can't drive like this.... thanks

Cyclopentolate can keep a blue or light colored iris dilated for several days after its stopped. It sounds like you were treated for iritis.

Thank you...I do have blue/green colored eyes and yes, after looking up iritis I do believe this is what my dr. is treating me for, though he did not state this.  A white/cloudyness came on and covered my eye about a month ago, went away and then started up again over two days bringing me to the point yesterday where it became completely cloudy.
Thank you for putting a name to it....it allowed me to do some research and understand what's going on.  Thank you again.

You NEED to know if you had iritis. Ask your physician next time you're in. If you have another episode or this persists then you need an iritis work up.
