Dilation in getting accurate prescriptions

Dilation in getting accurate prescriptions

My pre-schooler just visited an optometrist and had her eyes dilated.  Then a prescription (-1.5 for both eyes) was given.  I was alittle taken aback that she was short-sighted at this early age.  So, I went to another optometrist for a second opinion.  This time around, her eyes were not dilated.  However, the prescription given was slightly higher (-2.0 for both eyes).  Question - which prescription should I follow:  the one given when her eyes were dilated OR it doesn't really matter as the difference is not great?  Much thanks!

The first exam was more accurate. Dilation drops need to be used on kids. Without drops the glasses are usually too strong (as in your case).
