Do I have an astigmatism?

Hi, im 22 yrs old and have been wearing glasses since about 7 yrs old. This past year I got contacts for the first time as well as new prescription glasses, but ended up only wearing the contacts for about 2 days before switching back to glasses full time. I was really squeamish about touching my eye and my husband had to take them out of my eye for me lol. Well yesterday, after several months of no use, I opened a new pair of contacts to give them a try. I left them in for about three hours but they were uncomfortable, I could feel the edges of the lens quite a bit, they made my eyes hurt and my vision was almost constantly blurry. Every time I blinked the lens would move alot and be blurry for awhile, i'd have to stare at something andd wait for it to clear up...  I've heard of the term astigmatism but dont know if thats what is wrong or if its a matter of just having to wait and get used to them, but my husband who got contacts for the first time with me wears his everyday and says his aren't blurry like mine and I dont think I need a new prescription cause after I settle on an object it clears up after awhile and is fine...

You might have astigmatism but I would have to see your numbers.  Most patients have at least a very small amount and some have much more.  I really don't think that is what is causing your problem.  You either have very sensitive eyes and will not do well with contacts or you have a poorly fitting contact or possibly both.  Please see your doctor to discuss the problem and try to work out a solution.
