Do I really need prescription sunglasses?

My optometrist told me I need prescription sunglasses but I don't even wear a regular prescription eye glasses. I don't know a lot about glasses since i pretty much have a 20/20 vision. But here's what her prescription says: wear type: distance only; lens design: single vision; materials and coating: anti-reflective and UV coating then OD: -.25, cylinder +.50 axis 165; OS: -.25, cylinder .+50 and axis 180. what does it mean? Can you please explain?
Do i really need this or am i just being taken advantaged of? I had to pay $130 bucks on top of what my insurance covers. What I told her was I don't like driving at night because of the glare but I can tolerate it. So not sure why she gave me prescription sunglasses. Please let me know what I should do.

Dear prettyjasmin,

The prescription that was written for you is very small.   Do the glasses help the glare? If they do, I would use them.  If they do not, I would not.
