Do both eyes need to be done with Crystalens?

Dear Doctors:
I noticed this in a post :
"When I questioned the need to do my still "good" left eye so quickly, he said that both eyes needed to be done for the Crystalens to function properly"  
I was told this too but was never clear on why - -  and I would definitely like to NOT do my only remaining good eye with Crystalens but just continue to wear a contact lens.  Thank you.

Near vision results are better when both eyes are implanted.  The brain sends the same focusing stimulus to both eyes.  When one does not accommodate the other will accommodate less.

My monocular Crystalens patients do not see near as well as binocular implanted patients.  

I have a few patient who had their second eye done a year later and the near vision improved in the first eye.
