Does arc or shadow after IOL - negative dysphotopsia - go away? Anybody?

Like some others here, I had cataract surgery and wound up with an arc/shadow on the right side of my eye.  I only see it when I look to the left but it also seems like it's obstructing my peripheral vision a little bit when I look straight ahead (haven't been tested for this).  I saw my doctor about one week post op and he said it was the incision.  He said the IOL (Akreos) is well placed and centered (he dilated my eye) and that my eye is still swollen on that side.  I think others were told that and still had the arc over time.  My question is - has anyone had this phenomenon and experienced it GOING AWAY?

Most go away with time as the anterior capsule opacifies.  Some feel it is due to the wound swelling.  I am not sure of this. Wound swelling is gone in a few days and dysphotopsia (both negative and positive) persists much longer.

Another comment...if it is the swelling from an incision on the RIGHT then why do I only see this when I look to the left?  I don't think it's from swelling either.  I read somewhere that there was a design problem with the square-edged IOLs for some people and I suspect this may be my problem (some technical details about refraction of light at oblique angles).  I really want to explant this lens and get the Tecnis monofocal I wanted in the first place.  How long does anterior capsule opacification take in general?  How long should I wait before pursing an explant?  The doctor said the Akreos is very flexible and would be easier to remove than most but I've read some frightening tales about this procedure. ( I am in excellent health.)

Two and a half years on I still have terrible positive dysphotopsia and some negative dysphotopsia even after YAG laser for minor PCO. This problem isn't going away for me. My IOL is a monofocal AMO AR40e.

I had cataract surgery about 7 wks ago & again a couple wks later...I still have arc shadowns on both eyes...My doctor told me they never go away...you just get used to them...My x-husband said his went away & so did a nurse at the surgery location...I feel like I have blinders on & that  my peripheral vision is considerably less...
