Double Vision

by patelizabeth, Oct 13, 2009 01:40PM
I had two dizzy/faint spells.I went out of town thinking the problem would get better.  While in New Orleans I to Lenscrafters (I had a toric contact on backwards albeit I tried every combination of contacts for my eyes   When I got home I went to Lenscrafters here.  I saw the person whom had given eye exams in the past.  He tried with dif combos of eye contac I left tried them and had to come back the same day.  He gave me another combination.  It didn't work either so I came back in and saw a different doctor, she said she didn't think it had anything to do with my contacts she thought I may have had a mini stroke my blood pressure was 160/102 dont have high blood pressure.  Went to my regular doctor and he sent me to emergency rm.  My blood pressure was still high there.  They did a CT-scan and MRI with casing and didn't find anything.  Sent me home definetely panic next day went to an Optologmist and she said the headaches, dizzeness and double vision was because of my left eye and I must have had a mini stroke.  Really no definitive answer except your vision will come back went to a Neurologolist.  He examined all reflexes and my eyes.  He said I had sixth cranial nerve palsy.  All my blood tests before then has shown normal Sent to my regular doctor to have more blood tests to double check.  He also said my vision would return 1- 3 months.  He said that unless there is an underlying cause no need for medication and no follow up I feel lost cannot drive read or do any everyday functions.  I am stressed and my regular doctor did give me something for my headaches.  I am going back to the Optomologist on Thursday.  Don't know what she could do?  I am wearing my regular prescrip for orginal contacts which is for monovision.  To put a patch over my eyes makes me even more nervous.  Help!!!!!

Go to www.aapos.org and find an Eye-MD who specializes in adult strabismus.  This person can properly diagnose the cause of the double vision and give you an idea of your prognosis and treatment options.
