Double vision caused by retinal swelling

As previously posted herein, I've had multiple eye problems going back many years, i.e., glaucoma, cataracts, failed cataract surgery in right eye, vitrectomy in right eye, intraocular lens implant in right eye.  I developed double vision  with ptosis and have been diagnosed with fluid behind the retina and retinal swelling.  I don't really know when the double vision started because I've been wearing an eye patch since August of 2005, the time of the original cataract surgery.  I've been treating with Predisolone (3x daily) and Nevanac (3x daily), along with my usual glaucoma drops.  Since this situation does not seem to be improving, my retinal specialist has suggested he might try steroid injections into the eye.  I am very apprehensive about this.  Could someone explain the procedure to me and allay my fears?

You have two problems 1. double vision 2. retina swelling (cystoid macular edema).
You will need to ask the retina Eye MD about the injections as there are several techniques that are used.  Eventually you may need to see a strabismus eye MD (eye muscle specialist).
