Double vision in one eye in one direction

Double vision in one eye in one direction

I was in a altercation over 3 weeks ago and was hit in the right eye, possibly with a ring on causing a cut and black eye. I  went to hospital a few hours after to get stiches and xray. No broken bones xray shows. after black eye goes down i was able to open my eye. I had blood surrounding my eye and stiches left sagginess to my eyelid. I noticed when i looked to my left and slightly upward(diagnol direction) I see double, and when looking in a mirror i notice my right eye seems to be uneven(left eye completly up and right eye slow or stuck in a straight forward position) causing my double vision. I went to ortho(eye care doctor) and they gave me test and found nothing unusal. Vision in both eyes are clear, able to read the 20/20 line, perifial vision is good, and looking towards the right in all direction is perfect(no double) only when i look left and when my head is level. The doctor told me to continue using ice and in a week or two if double vision stays the same or gets worse(does not correct it self) then to seek a MRI on my eye to see if any underlying problem is the cause if any. If nothing finds out to be the cause or if my eye doesnt correct it self in a week or two, what shuld I do? How long does the eye need after direct injury for eye to completly heal

1) You needed a CT scan of your face to make sure no bones are broken not an x-ray.  CT scan would involve you being on a bed that rolls into a machine around your head.  If this was not done, it should be done immediately to check for broken bones and entrapment of muscles, etc.
2) You should make sure that you saw an ophthalmologist (eye MD) and not an optometrist after such trauma because they have the training to deal with it better.
3) If the CT scan was done and an ophthalmologist did examine you, then there may be swelling in the orbit causing your symptoms and should go away in a couple of weeks.  If not, MRI may be in order as you mentioned.
