Double vision.

by GREGB722000, Feb 09, 2009 03:40PM
"Last week I was laying down and looking at television and I started seeing double visions. I closed one eye and it was normal. I close the other eye and it was normal but with both eyes open it was double vision. This lasted for 1 minute and went back to normal. Today I’m at work on the computer and each time I look down I see doubles for a few seconds and when I wink my eyes it’ll go back to normal. Am I on the computer too long or straining my eyes?"

This is called binocular diplopia and could be related to a longstanding mild strabismus or a medication side effect or possibly a problem with your glasses.  See an ophthalmologist for a complete evaluation.  Your symptoms are not nornal.  (One last thing  that can cause intermittant diplopia is myasthenis gravis.)

Dear GREGB722000,

I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD to determine the cause of your double vision.  It is possible that you may have an issue that you cannot fully compensate.
