Droopy Eyelids

I am 21 years old and I have had droopy eyes my whole life.  My top lid sits right above the black dot (sorry not sure what it is called), and sometimes I feel like I can see it.  But my bottom lids are the worst, especially in my left eye.  I feel that lately it has gotten worse.  The air feels like it is drying the bottom of my eyes out.  Also, I think my eyes are trying to make extra mucus to protect them.  Therefore I can literally pull like a string of stuff out of my eye.  I also feel as though my vision is blurring a little, and in my left eye I sometimes see spots.  Is this because I have droopy eyes?  If so would I see a regular doctor for this or an opthomologist?  What are other symptoms of droopy eyes?

You can start with a comprehensive medical eye exam by an Eye MD ophthalmologist. OR you can start with seeing an oculoplastic surgeon (Eye MD that does eyelid surgery as a subspecialty. FInd one near you at www.aao.org

Black dot is the pupil. Droopy upper lid is ptosis.  Sometimes insurance companies will pay to have the lid ptosis corrected. Generally they consider lower lid problems cosmetic and don't cover them.

Thank you for the info.  And when it comes to the spots, could that be from the irritation or something else?  Lastly, what about the mucus-like stuff that sits on my bottom lids?  Are my eyes trying to protect themselves in producing it?
