Drop causing irritation cant get ahold of my doctor

My doctor has been trying to clear up an eye infection I have had for about 2 months now she has now put me on an eye drop called Sulfacetamide Sodium Ophthalmic Solution UPS from the time I started using it it has caused a burning sensation when I put it in my eyes and she said that that was normal and to keep using it well it has been 2 weeks and still burns quite a bit also my eyes seem to be getting more red and beginning to itch I am using it 4 times a day as prescribed. I have left messages with my doctors office but have not gotten an answer back I guess since it is over the christmas break and Im not sure if I should discontinue use or  not?

Stop the mediciation. If its going to work it should  have by now. It is a sulfa containing drop and you may be developing a sensitivity. Might just use warm compresses and perservative free artifical tears.
