Durezol and Ilevro side effects

My heart started pounding and racing 2 days after cataract surgery. I saw a physician today who did an EKG and it was normal, but my pulse was between 100 - 120 (normal for me is 60) and my blood pressure was 154/84 (normal for me is 120/80. He looked up the side effects from the Durezol and Ilevro eye drops I'm using and found they can cause increased heart rate and high blood pressure. I have no history of heart problems. In fact, I'm a runner. He told me to call the after hours number for my surgeon, and through the answering service, I was told the drops wouldn't cause heart problems and to call his  office on Monday morning.

Your surgeon is correct. Durezol is a steroid and Ilevro a NSAID   The side effects listed on the bottle such as increase blood pressure and rapid heartbeat are for when steroids and NSAIDs are taken by mouth. The eye drops have to have the same warning.

You should see your personal physician to look for other causes such as hyperthyroid, electrolye disorders, etc.
