ECP for glaucoma with cataract surgery

ECP for glaucoma with cataract surgery

I am 58 yo WM, very myopic (-11 both eyes), have scheral buckle on one eye to repair small retinal tear 4 years ago. Glaucoma in both eyes diagnosed agter retina surgery, controlled by lumigan eyedrops currently, xylatan and combigan less successful. Vision has deteriorated in last 18 months attributable to cataracts per MD; my night vision and contrast vision are awful. He recommends ECP lasrer treatment while doing the cataract surgery (takes just a couple minutes extra with specialized laser he adds). Is this a fairly standard practice now, what are long term expectations, and are there any significant risks? I would like to hear more.

No it is not a standard procedure but when you are all all the glaucoma medications there are (different type) and cataract surgery is indicated then glaucoma surgery is often considered at the same time. if your surgeon is experienced then a glaucoma laser make good sense.
