EKC Scars on Cornea

EKC Scars on Cornea

I had a bad case of EKC 15 months ago and after treatment with steroids I was left with scars on both my corneas, light sensitivty, halos, reduced vision, glare, and intolerence to contacts.  My Corneal Specialist says there is nothing that can be done and he has seen it take years to resolve.  My question is what are my chances of ever getting rid of the scars and being able to wear contacts normally or being able to have vision correction surgery?  This problem has seriosly affected my quality of life and the pain is awful!  Any advice would be appreciated!

I would consider a second opinion from another cornea specialist (academic center if possible) to make sure there is nothing more to do right now.  Unusual for it to take more than 15 months in my opinion.  Corneal transplant has too high a risk with your condition unless your vision is seriously decreased.
