EKC and maxitrol

EKC and maxitrol

Hi Dr.

I was diagnosed with bacterial and than afterwards with viral conjuctivitus and given the following order of medicine-
first onset right eye- polymyxin 3 days no effect (primary)
switched to gentomycin whole course 5 days (primary)
last week finally got to see an optometrist who diagnosed viral conjuctivitus, all symptoms are identical to EKC
and prescribed maxitrol.
My right eye vision is still completely blurry- I was diagnosed told that cornea was swollen and lots of corneal infiltrates. So here are my questions

1- Is maxitrol effective in dissolving infiltrates or helping visual acuity
2. Is there a list of better steroids that you have had success with
3. Do I need to push to see an opthamologist
4. Will the blurriness go away even if takes months.
5. If it doesnt go away, are there surgical or any procedures to bring back visual clarity
6. How long do you take people off of work when they have symptoms in both eyes.?

Thanks so much

Dear lilaclilies,

I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD to determine what steroid eyedrop to use to assist in resolving the corneal subepithelial infiltrates.
