Elevated eye pressure

Elevated eye pressure

I am 42 years old.  About a year ago, I was told by an ophthalmologist who removed a chalazion/sty from my right eyelid that my IOP was elevated (23 in each eye).  They did some tests and said that everything came back okay and to come back in one year.  At my appointment this year with a different ophthalmologist, my eye pressure is now 30 and my VFT tests were not very good.  I was prescribed Lumigan drops, one drop in each eye at bedtime.  Is this treatment aggressive enough for IOP of 30?  I have an appointment next week for a second opinion and would also appreciate your opinion.  I am a single mom raising two autistic children and want to do everything I can to protect my vision.  Thank you.

Treating glaucoma is like treating diabetes and high blood pressure unless its an emergency you start out with one medicine and then work up to see what it takes. It would be important that you  have had a gonioscopy to rule out angle closure glaucoma.

Most eye MDs begin RX with a prostaglandin analog (lumigan, travitan or Xalatan).
