Endless eye discharge

I am experiencing extremely thick, goopy discharge at night time (usually starts about 12 hours after I wake up and progressively worsens until I sleep).  It spreads over both of my eyes and blurs my vision greatly until I clear my eyes with drops, but then comes back in a few minutes.  I've had this problem for a few years now...no allergies or infections.  Is there anything I can do to prevent this discharge?  Could it be diet related?

If you wear contacts the most likely cause is GPC due to the contacts. Otherwise see an Eye MD that specializes in cornea and external disease.
