Episcleritis

by Jameszz, Aug 07, 2008 11:00AM
I have had episcleritis (inflammation of the white part of the eye) and alot of right side pain. I had a sexual exposure to hiv and hepatitis but i tested negative for hepa,b,c after 5 months and some days and hep b again at 11 months and hiv neg at 11 months. I have went to opthamologists and they said it usually happens and goes away and no ones knows why. But they also said it could be linked to an auto-immune disease. Do you guys think its something bigger? like hepatitis or an autoimmune disease or something very minor. My side really hurts. I scheduled a catscan... so we will see

You were given good advise. Episcleritis is very common and is like tendonitis or bursitis. I do not do a work up for autoimmune disease unless the patient has symptoms suggestive of same (such as pain in the small joints of the hand in early AM wich is characteristic of rheumatoid arthritis).

Not really sure why you're getting a CT scan.
