Episcleritis

I was referred to an opthomologist because of pain and redness in my eyes.  The optomologist's diagnosed my condition as episcleritis. He prescribed drops for me to use four times per day.  My eyes are less red, but still red.  He said that my right eye has an enlarged blood vessel and the pressure is high.  I see him again on Tuesday for dilation of my eyes and a pressure check.  I am worried because the medication doesn't seem to be effective.  Is my condition common? Serious? Could I have glaucoma even at 24 with no family history? Will I require surgery to correct this condition?

Episcleritis can take a long time to treat.  Follow up with your doctor and discuss your concerns.
