Excessive Blinking Problem

I always just thought I had dry eyes, as it is certainly worse in the winter, but it is becoming clear to me now that I have something going on which I would assume is more serious.

My problem is, my eyes tend to twitch, or blink at separate times giving people the idea that I am winking at them. I also blink quite often. Sometimes when my eyes are getting bad, I find myself blinking multiple times within several seconds. For the most part, this is generally painless, but I've also noticed at times above my left eye it can get a little sore, almost like it's straining.

I know what I've given is pretty general, but I was wondering if from the information provided anybody could weigh in on possibilities and how to go about curing this problem.

Dry eye is one cause.  You should see an EyeMD.
