You may need to be on low dose steroid like Lotemax with monitoring your eye for IOP and other steroid side effects for months.   Restasis may help.  Use the search feature and archives to read about your problem.

Thanks Dr Hagan, since the punctual plugs have been put in the outbreaks are not as blurry as they were prior, but very aggressive breakouts, its started in Dec 08, went to OPTOMORIST - thought it was pink eye, 1 mos later it came back, different opt said dry eye, this happened 4 times then i went to a OPTHAMOLOGIST and she said Thygesons/severe dry together..
my breakout seem to run together now, as soon as i come off the steroids its back again... she said my eye pressure is fine and is monitoring it..
i sure hope i get relief soon, this is a PAIN

Yes it can take months on steroids for the cloudy spots on the cornea to heal. My last patient was a very very impatient pediatrician. He took 4 months on steroids and a long taper

I have similar problems, which have exact timespan, December'08 until now, have 14 eye infection which is cured with Steroid. But once steroid came off it's flare up again. I have seen 4 different opthamologist with the same diagnosis which is Keratitis Numularis.

For the first infection (December - April) My Opthamologist used Genteal and Tobradex tappered Three times a day for 5 days than, two times a day for 10 days and than stopped. But after 3 or 5 days it flare up again

On May change to Fluorometholone one month after that have my IOP checked it' on 17 for the right eye (My infection is only on right eye since it's first onset on late december'08, my left eye is fine until now). FML tappered are two times a day for 10 days than one times a day for 10 days and than stopped but when FML stopped within 5 days it's flare up again.

Last month my Opt said that we need to tappered off more slowly than we tappered FML  two times a day for 10 days than one times a day for 10 days and than plann to once in every two days, but it's not working after 5 days(using two drop of FML for 5 days) the infection has flare up again now.

What should i do? Do i need to toughen on the FML dose for two month or so. And my Opth always give me one  week till 10 days before restarting a treatment with FML between each flare up

I have seen 4 different Opt including one Cornea specialist with the same diagnosis? I live in Indonesia while my current Opt is a certified Opthamologis from U.S. Any suggestion

My infection goes from one eye to the ohter and both eyes, if i look far left or right i have a extremely gritty feeling, i also tried anti viral anti biotics but did not help (biaxin i think)
even taking pred 1% right now 1 drop 4 x day, by morning eyes are gritty already!!!!! one steroid and their fine-its like i have to be on the steroids all the time for comfort.

Tries azasite too, didnt work either 1 drop 2 x day...

my eye infection started in dec when i had an episode on bronchitus (bronchitis)..

In a similiar situation I would use FML or Alrex and low dose maybe twice perday for three of four months monitoring the IOP every six weeks. I have had patients on steroids for this problem up to 6 months. I have been able to get all of them off steroids and the inifiltrates on the cornea to fade

Thanks a lot, it's a  relief that i'm not the only one who have this disease. One more question. Do i have diet to prevent the flare up, such as avoid anything with MSG or any others allergen
