Extended dilation of one eye accompanied by dizziness

Extended dilation of one eye accompanied by dizziness

While doing yard work about 10 days ago I was stuck in the eye by a sharp peice of vegetation (no I wasn't wearing eye protection...which, quite trufully, is unusual for me). I went to an emergency department and received treatment, which included having the eye dilated, and then I followed up with my ophthalmologist a day later. The eye is still dilated and I have been having dizzy sensations (not severe enought to afffect my balance, and there are no headaches or blurred vision). But the spells are frequent and annoying (sometimes lasting for a couple of seconds and several times in a period of two or three minutes). Is this a common symptom for having one eye dilated for over a week now? Shoudl I contact my eye doctor about the eye dilation? Could it be anxiety (say, due to stress) and totally not related to my eye?

Your pupil should be normal size now unless injured in the blow or if atropine was used by your Eye MD. In anycase I would contact the ophthalmologist's office to ask about the dilated pupil and to discuss a follow up exam. And now wear eye protection for all appropriate activities.
