Eye Contacts in nail polish remover

About a year ago i had a cousin put Nail Polish remover in my eye contacts case and a few days later i went to wear my contacts and i put the right one in my eye. I immediately took it out and flushed my eye cause it burned. My family doesn't believe me because they think that the contacts would have shriveled up and i wouldnt have been able to put them in my eye. And it was not pure acetone and it was mixed with my eye solution, So my question is would my contacts have shriveled up or would i still have been able to put them in my eye?
