Eye IOL lens

Hello,

My mother aged 75 years has one eye (left eye) since last 20 years. Right eye has lost vision. Left eye has cataract and age related macular. Doctor has suggested "ACRYSOF IQ aspheric IOL. Is this IOL best to avoid posterior capsular opacification, does it have square edge, is it one piece, avoids macular degeneration. In many sites I found after 1-2 years post cataract has high rate of PCO. Guess aspheric and square edge are not related. Please send any specification links for this IOL. Since my mother cannot walk (osteoarthiristis) and is one eye patient and I wish to avoid risk due to PCO and  macular degeneration.

In ALCON IOLs which is better 1 piece or 3 piece to avoid PCO and age related macular.

Thanks

Totally agree with etrader.
This is surgery and YOU are not the expert.  If in the USA, Medicare and most insurances cover 2nd and 3rd opinions from the actual experts.

Hi, I understand you want the best for your mother but your post is perhaps an example of too much internet reading into a subject you are not an expert on - nor am I for that matter.

In this case you really have to go with the surgeons opinion as he is the expert who is doing the surgey.
