Eye Injury and Strabismus

I got an injury in my left eye about 7 years ago. I was in a poor country and couldn't find a doctor who would cure my eye. Now I am in US and I'm 17 years old. I went to the doctor and she said my eye's tissues are destroyed. My eye is not blinded totally. I can see the light but covered with dim black. But it's dark pitch at the middle. The doctor said wait for the technology as it's advancing. I'm gonna wait for that.

However, my alignment changed since the incident( The one that still hurts my emotions after the incident ). My eyes were at normal position. As i explored through Google i found out that it's Strabismus. I might be wrong. But,i guess the injury alter my eye's position. It's not because of the eye muscles as i was normal before the incident. So, my question is that will i be able to fix my eye's position? How many ways are there?

Thanks in advanced..

The eye can be straightened with strabismus surgery but there is a high risk of it going back out again as the brain is not controlling that eye very well as it has poor vision.  If it really bothers you, you could consult with a strabismus specialist to see if they could fix it or recommend anything else.  This is the same specialty as pediatric ophthalmology if you need to search for one at www.aao.org where you can find ophthalmologists by subspecialty.
