Eye Injury

Hello -
When I was 7 years old, my family and I were at our lake house. My brother (who was 5) and I were swimming and he was playing on the shore line in the sand and I was in the water. I was swimming under the water and he threw a stick and as I came up out of the water it went through my eye. Four Optho. Dr's came to see me and told my grandparents they could not save my eye and that I was to have either a fake eye or they would sew it shut. One really Great Dr came in and said that he would be able to save my eye but more than likely never be able to see out of it again because the lens in my eye was destroyed. My pupil is in the left upper corner of my right eye now. I also have (please forgive my spelling) strobismous .. the muscles in my eye are making it turn to the back of my head but have not been able to get it fixed yet.. I have had 2 or 3 surgerys since I was 7 and I cannot see out of my clearly. Contacts make it double sometimes triple the vision. I am now 24 years old. I am just wanting to know if there might be a possible way to fix it or to make it better. I just thought I would ask, never hurts. Thank You for your time.

It all depends on how badly the different compartments in the eye are damaged.  Assuming the retina and optic nerve are healthy and you don't have amblyopia (big assumption as you likely do have it), you may be able to get reconstructive surgery if there is enough tissue to work with.  You may want to consult with an academic cornea specialist for an evaluation to see if there is any hope.
