Eye Palsy?

I posted a few days back about my husband, he had an aneurysm clipped on the right side of his brain and his right pupil was not dilating, I'm sorry it is dilating just not getting small when light is shined into it, they are now saying he has an eye palsy and he may not be able to open his right eye, if the problem can correct itself how long might it take? When he is sleeping I can see his left eye move back and forth but I don't see his right eye move at all, I will open the right eye and he tells me he can see out of it, but I wonder because he is just starting to wake up but still isn't with it. I am very concerned, if the eye won't open is there somehting that can be done medically to open the eye? Thank You.

He likely suffered a third cranial nerve palsy as a result of the aneurysm because of its close physical proximity.  These usually get better but it may take up to three months.  Don't panic, just give this time.  I suspect he has normal vision out of this eye just the muscles don't move properly including the eyelid because of the nerve palsy.  There is nothing medically to do in the meantime.  I would recommend you follow up with a neuroophthalmologist when he is out of the hospital.  Good luck.
