Eye Pigmentation

I have quite a bit of pigmentation in the fundus and sclera of my right eye. I have had this as long as i can remember but seems to be getting darker over the last couple years. I recently went to my eye doctor and have been diagnosed with early right cataracts. I am only 33 years old. My question is can this pigmentation lead to worse conditions such as vision loss or melanoma?  Is there any known treatment for this pigmentation?   It seems there is not alot of information on this condition, anything you can offer would be much appreciated.

There are some very rare conditions that could cause worrisome or serious problems that darken the conjunctiva.  None of them are related to glaucoma.

I suggest you see an Eye MD for an exact diagnosis and discussion.

Thank you for your response, just curious though are you saying that it is okay for the pigmentation to increase in area or darken in color and this should not affect your vision in any way or add to the chances of another condition that could deteriorate vision such as glaucoma? As well I am a caucasian so this seems to be a rarer condition from what you posted earlier.

Pigment in and on the eye is most common, even normal, in blacks. and very common in darkly pigmented races and individuals. There is no treatment except to excise if they look suspiciious of melanoma. The risk of melanoma especially in blacks and dark pigmented people is extremely low.
