Eye irritation after cataract surgery

by Jfulton50, Sep 21, 2009 09:41AM
I had cataract surgery in March 2009 and again in April 2009.  Since the surgery my eyes have felt irritated and inflamed most of the time.  My doctor recommended hot eye compresses followed by eye drops.  She gave me some Systane samples to use.  This seemed to work for a day or two but then it's back to the hot sauce in my eyes feeling.  She has mentioned that I have some erosion and that I have an oily substance on my eyelids.  I would think that the oil would lubricate rather than irritate but apparently not.  What can I do to alleviate the pain and irritation?  I have been on Restasis for about a week with no results but was told it may take a month to see any relief.  I’m really tired of this and need some relief!
