Eye pain 4 weeks post surgery

I had surgery on my left eye to repair two retinal tears on July 17th. The eye doctor released me on August 20, 2012. Today, August 31, 2012 I started to get throbbing pain in the eye that lasts for a couple of minutes and seems to repeat hourly or so. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Generally speaking, retinal tears/detachments do not cause pain.  The surgery certainly can, especially if you had a scleral buckle.  I would call your surgeon immediately, since post-op pain is always a concern.
