Eye pain and headaches

About two weeks ago, I started to get white foggy spots on my contacts. They wash out with solution, but would come back frequently (a few times a day). I think they're protein deposits. I've had this happen before a few years ago where they occurred frequently. A switch in contact brands fixed it. My eyes started to hurt so I went to see an ophthalmologist. He checked my eyes- no scratches, contacts fit well, okayed my solution etc. He said that he didn’t really know why my eyes were hurting (like a dull pain- no really itchiness. I do have more visible blood vessels in my eye also). He said it might be allergies. He gave me eye drops that are anti-inflammatory and anti-allergy. He said it doesn’t look like I have GCP, but he suggested I wear my contacts less. I’ve been taking them out earlier at night and am waiting for my glasses to arrive so I can use the contacts a bit less. However, my eyes still hurt whether the contacts are in or out. It’s pain in the back of my eye and into my forehead- causing bad headaches. They seem to go down my nose also. Any idea what this could be and how to solve it?
