Eye pain

I am 27, I am suffering from eye pain and also get severe head ache through out the day, and it is from last 2 years. I went to opthomologist, and he told that there was no problem with my eye, everything is fine, but I am feeling the pain and burning sensation daily, through out the day.  I would appreciate if you can recommend some thing, which can work.  Thanks

hi, I just got the internet a few weeks ago and posted my first question for eye pain.  I called myself "unnerved".  I've had eye pain for 2 1/2 years now.  I've seen some of the best opth. and they don't see anything wrong.  The burning sensation you feel pretty constantly and the pain sounds familiar.  Alot like myself.  I ended up at a neurologist who suspected trigeminal neuralgia but after further testing found it was not.  After doing ALOT of research on the internet I self diagnosed myself as having atypical facial pain.  I'll give you the list of meds I'm on that make life more bearable for me:  gabapentin 2 -600 mg tabs 3X daily (anticonvulsant that also helps control nerve pain), tramadol 50-100 mg 3-4X/day (pain reliever that helps me when I feel like I have searing pain), a pain clinic put me on methadone 5 mg 2X/day (it started out as a drug to help heroin addicts but is now used very successfully for pain), cymbalta 60 mg at bedtime (it's an antidepressant but at 60 mg works to help all kinds of neuralgia), lorazepam 5 mg 1X/day and as needed (it's a med for panic attacks but it also releases some kind of (chemical?) or causes your body to release something??? anyway it also helps to relieve some of my worst pain) It took MONTHS and many doctors working together to get this combination of meds together.  I recommend searches for neurolgia and atypical facial pain for your own research.  You have to be your own advocate and be informed.  Since my PCP left her practice to teach last year I haven't had a good doctor on my side.

If headache of two year duration and a normal eye exam by an ophthalmologist is the situation then I would recommend a referral to a neurologist. Ask your family MD
