Eye pressure, eyelid swelling, pain - not allergies

I noticed earlier in the week, the vision in my left eye was a bit blurry (almost like there was a strand of mucus in there, but there wasn't) and the feeling persisted for ca. 24 h then went away.  About 3 d later, I woke up with a swollen eyelid and some eye pressure.  Now the swelling has subsided but the pain and pressure persist, with the most noticeable pain/pressure coming from below my eye (just beneath the lower eyelid).  I everted the lids and haven't seen any unusual pustules, no discharge, no redness (either of the eyelid or conjunctiva).  What can be wrong?

That's to vague to give you a list of possibilities but since it seems persistent go see an ophthalmologist. Find one near you at www.aao.org
