Eye pressure is high

I went to get an eye exam and glasses at Lenscrafters and the 'dr.' there examined my eyes, gave me glasses, and gave me a referral to an opthamologist.  She told me she wanted me to go asap, and that my eye pressure was high (in the 30's).  She asked me if I see flashes of light or have any pain, and I replied no to both.  She scared the heck out of me and told me that if I have any symptoms between tonight and tomorrow to go directly to the ER.
What could be wrong??

A pressure of 30 is suggestive of glaucoma.  You need to see an ophthalmologist ASAP.  Untreated high pressure can lead to blindness.
