Eye spasms

Hit, I'm wondering if you could possibly help me. I am a postgraduate student in London, and over the last 3 weeks I have been getting episodic spasms in the small muscle in my upper right eyelid. I don't know whether they are getting worse, or perhaps I am just noticing them more, but they are definitely getting more frequent. Each spasm "attack" lst anywhere form 30 seconds to 2 minutes, and although (hopefully!) it's not serious, it's starting to drive me nuts, because it affects my concentration.
I would really appreciate your opinion on this matter, as to what may be the cause and how if possible to reduce the frequency of this annoying little quirk!
Thanks a million for you time,
Yours faithfully
John-Joe Reilly

It is not unusual to have spasms of the eyelid.  It may be associated with stress, caffiene, or just occur spontaneously.  If it persists, you may want to see an ophthalmologist to make sure nothing else is going on.
