Eye twitches and temporary morning pain

Eye twitches and temporary morning pain

I'm 28 years old and have been having on and off eye twitches for about two months, mostly my left eye, but sometimes in both. These twitches are accompanied by temporary pain in the morning. Just as I'm waking and open my eyes, I feel some discomfort and frequent twitching for a minute or so...then it ends and I go on normally w/ occasional twitches during the day. It seems to get worse as the day goes on and my eyes get tired. In addition, I am now having a few twitches in my lower cheek and one finger on my left hand. I'm not experiencing any weakness or loss of coordination or anything like that, so I'm hoping I'm clear of the major movement disorders...but I don't know what's going on. Any help?

That sounds like more than myokymia which is a mild twitching of the eyelids usually self limited. You may be having blepharospasms or hemifacial spasms. I suggest you see a neuroophthalmologist. Find one at www.aao.org
