Eye twitching and head injury

Three days ago, I was accidentally hit on the right side of my head by someone's elbow.  It was very sore, but did not cause any concussion or injury, so I believed at the time.  A day later, my right eye began twitching. (I've never had an issue with this eye before.)  I also have quite a bit of tenderness in that spot on my head and pain when I open my mouth wide or use my jaw muscles.  Before jumping to horrible conclusions, is it possible that the eye twitching is related to my head and does it indicate that I have a more serious injury that originally believed?

Thank you-

I was in a wreck on Dec 28th 09. My head hit the side airbag pretty hard. I do have a concussion but in the last few weeks under my right eye has been twitching like crazy. I've been making notes about it in my journal. I FINALLY have a dr.s appt. this week. They are doing an MRI or CT. Could the twitching be from the head injury?

I think you should see and Eye MD ophthalmologist as the eye could have been injured on the inside (example retina detachment) Find an Eye MD near you at www.aao.org

I got hit with a softball just below my eye two months ago, my whole eye was swollen. There is still a bump where I got hit and is still sore. I can constantly feel my eye twitching inside the top of my eyelid. It it not noticeable to other people but it is continuous and very annoying. What do you think?

Thanks!

It's likely that the twitching (called myokymia) is co-incidental. It's not a serious problem and if you were not hit in or near the eye its highly unlikely that your eye was injured.
