Eyelid "deformed" and vision issues after chalazion surgery

Back in December I developed a chalazion in my upper eye lid. Before the chalazion formed I had 20/15 vision in that eye. My doctor told me that the chalazion was pushing on my cornea causing a temporary astigmatism and that after the chalazion was removed my vision would return.

Its been four months since my surgery and I still have my astigmatism. My vision fluctuates from being clear at times (most notably when I first wake up) and more blurry and distorted at others. My eye lid is slightly "deformed". Its still a little discolored (red/purple) and puffy/droopy. There is no pain, it just doesn't look normal. Do you have any advice for me? Could this be from scar tissue due to the chalazion removal surgery? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A chalazion has to be pretty large and pretty firm to cause temporary astigmatism. It is very unlikely to cause permanent astigmatism. You may need glasses for astigmatism that is INCIDENTAL to the chalazion rather than due to it.

I suggest you see another Eye MD for a second opinion and a complete comprehensive medical eye exam. Find one at www.aao.org
