Eyelid ptosis surgery dilemma

Hi,

I am an 18 year old girl suffering from ptosis in my upper eyelids. With the left lid drooping slightly more than the right. I have also been wearing hard contact lense since the age of 6. I am unclear as to whether the ptosis is congenital or acquired, due to the prolonged contact wearing. Also, the ptosis tends to vary day to day, somedays being mild whilst some quite obvious.
I have consluted an ophthalmologist about this and she, while recognising that there is a problem, suggested that I do not need a surgery as it does not affect the functioning of my eye. She said a surgery would be "unethical" on her bahalf.
Desperate to find a remedy for my problem I consulted a plastic surgeon with 20 years experience in the field of eyelid surgery. He offered to do the surgery with no hesitation at all and even reassured me that serious complications such as loss of vision "will not happen" as he handed me the consent form.
In my opinion I do have a ptosis problem. I would like it fixed. I would like to have equal eyelids and most importantly, I would like the doctors to clarify the procedure.
In considering my situation and picture, do you believe that the benefits  of an eyelid surgery outweigh the possibility of all the relevant complications? Do you believe that a positive outcome (equal lids) is likely to happen?
Please do answer the questions my previous doctors have omitted due to their bias.

Yes and Yes.  I do not agree with your ophthalmologist.  He is speaking a medical indication not a cosmetic one.
