FLUORESCEIN ANGIOGRAM

FLUORESCEIN ANGIOGRAM

Long story... April 30 my husband had surgery on his right eye to remove a cataract.  He was supposed to have a Toric lens inserted.  We couldn't get past the front desk til we handed over a check for $750 for this lens.  Surgery was performed, but the lens was not inserted.  Dr said he had a suprachoroidial hemorhage.  2 weeks later eye was cut open again and lens put in.  There was trouble with high eye pressure and swelling.  In July cataract doc sends us to a cornea doc.  Cornea doctor performs DSEK surgery on right eye on August 22.  Husband is very disciplined about doing all drops as directed.  Vision seems to be slowly improving.  Pressure runs about 14 at check-ups.  Come to November.  Cornea doc says the retina is swollen.  Cornea doc sends hubby to retina doc.  Retina doc does a FLUORESCEIN ANGIOGRAM.  Hubby to get avastin injection next week.

My question... since the FLUORESCEIN ANGIOGRAM vision in right eye is WORSE.  Hubby's description sounds like the flash of the camera taking the pictures has burned his eye.  He says he has a "Flash Print" circle in his vision.  I've read about troubles with reactions to the dye.  What about the flash?

Dear jdsibold,

Flourescein angiography does not usually cause damage to the eye.  It sounds as if your husband has had difficulty and complications.  I would recommend that you call the retinal specialist and express his difficulties and perceptions.
