Flashes after pvd

Hi Doctor,
I had a pvd 1 month ago with weiss ring and all the floaters and flashes.  Real scarey.  I have had flashes of light every night now for a month.  The doctor said that it should go away by 2 to 3 months.  However my other eye had a asymptomatic pvd 8 months ago.  I have a few very faint flashes in that eye at night now for 8 months.  Not sure why.  How long is this going to last?  What exactly is going on in the retina to cause this to go on?  Is it that the vitreous has not completely separated from the retina.  It's funny because my retinal specialist hasn't put restrictions on my lifestyle (lifting, theme parks, etc).  I asked her too.

I am so confused with this whole thing.  Then I just read on MedHelp that some people have flashes at night without a pvd.  What is the difference?  Is this normal?  Do I need to be cautious.

Help.
Thanks for your clarification.
Dilee
