Floaters and flashes

Floaters and flashes

I have been seeing sudden onset of flashes and floaters. I do see floaters occasionally in the past but about one month ago I started seeing an increase in number of floaters especially under bright light like day time.

I have seen an eye specialist to get my retinal checked and he said nothing is wrong with my retinal.
I am just wondering is it possible for me to have a retinal tear/detachment without the doctor noticing it? And how long will it take for one who has retinal tear/detachment to develop obvious symptoms like the 'casting shadows'?

And how does it actually feel for one to feel that their eyes are 'heavy'?

Flashes and floater do not always lead to a retinal tear.  Probably less than 0.5% develop a tear.  About 35% of eyes (1974 study-most recent) have a retinal detachment if you after an acute  tear.

You still need to have follow up as long as symptoms persists or increase.

But I have no idea if the increase in flashes I am seeing have always been there or I just started noticing it after getting to be very sensitive to my vision. Is there any other symptoms which I can take note of to know if I have retinal tear/detachment?
