Floaters in eye after cataract surgery

I had my second eye operated on two weeks ago and have since seen the eye doctor for a check up which she said was fine. I told the doctor I was seeing a floater in my eye and she said it was nothing to worry about but that its more noticable after a thin lens is put in. I am 68 so its common to have them.  The thing is today I have a couple more moving about when I look at anything which is light in colour.  I looked on the internet and its scared me as it said it might be a detachment of the retina.  Can a doctor here reassure me that its ok or should I see my eye doctor again.

Thank you for your reply.  I don't have flashes of light or loss of peripheral vision so I won't worry as you and my eye doctor both said it is common. I do suffer with anxiety so I worry about everything. I will watch for the floaters if they become numerous.

If you are having flashes of light, loss of peripheral vision or the floaters are becoming more numerous you should be seen in the surgeon's office today.

Floaters are common after cataract/iol surgery because more light comes into the eye allowing you to see floaters that were there before but that the cataract covered.
