Floaters in eyes

For the past 2 months iam having this black colour floaters in my eyes.Iam taking 'Eye glow' tablet and 'Just tears' drops.But the condition is same.But doctor says that there is no problem inside my eye.Whether this can be cured by any ways. Kindly suggest.And is it possible for me to go for laser treatment for removing my glass and even after that surgery whether this floaters would be seen?

Hiya there.

I've had these for years. Mine are more clear shapes though. I have one black-ish one that I see from time to time. If you look up then down again, it tends to move from the vision. After a while you will no longer notice them. I only notice them when im stressed or am looking for them.  If you eye doctor can see no other problems then your best to forget about them. I have been told in extreme cases floaters can be removed?

Thanks for your reply.Its not like pepper-like floaters. Its like thin hair floating. I could see this only in light. Its not seen in dark.

Hi all,

I started seeing floaters a month ago, my GP in UK doesn't want to refer me, coz she says it is liek vitrous detachement, the gel-like thing just split or something and that is probably due to my LASIK surgery (almost 2 yrs now), coz I always have dry eyes and tear at elast once a month at night.

I checked otehr things related to floaters like HIV/syphillis but all fine.....and thought it can be only surgery...tmr I am going to emergency just to check my eyes at specialist or will go private.....

Opticians say vision is 20/20 and scars are small and nice from surgery

they are annoying....my vision also seems to be hazy when entering closed places (restaurants/cinemas) after being outside.
I get depressed a lot.....but dunno.

That's PVD. Just make sure you were checked lately by an MD opthalmologist.

Acronym for PVD??? What does it mean..Whether it is curable...Any idea about this...

As long as there is no sudden increase in floaters, flashing lights, or a curtain, veil or glass like form that blocks vision in the periphery, you should be ok. you need an eye MD of course.

Surgery is not recommended for floaters. Too risky. I have had them all my life.People with weak retinas, like me and other myopics, need to watch their floaters. An increase
can signify that the patient needs lasering, to prevent retinal detachmaent

Whether after undergoing laser as you have mentioned, the floaters will vanish?

1st What is PVD?

2nd (NishaV) 1st 50% you can do surgery because only tests can tell you by your doctor
       coz some people can't do it dependingon their retina/cornea.
                    2nd Sometimes if you have floaterss before doctors wouldn't advise it ,  only docotr will show u teh right way
                    3rd if i had anotehr chance I would stay with glasses until at elast 35 (dry eyes are painful and don't let me sleep when they ahppen, now floaters).

3rd  I am going to emegency tmr at hospital, as directed by NHS direct nurse....and will see what they say.

Hi Dr.

I heared that using the gym for weight excersise can have an eefect on floaters, does it cause a bigger problem if I use weigths?
Very thin guy here and I usually like teh gym and helps me gain weight.

Unless you have been advised by an Eye MD ophthalmologist that you should not lift weight in general there are no restrictions made on weight lifting and the eye.

Hi,

If you see them when you look at a white background, blue sky then these are floaters, I started seeing them for over a month now.....I guess due to my surgery.

Go do a retina dialated exam with an optholmologist to check if there are problems.

The Dr. told me I have to live with them and my brain will learn how to forget them.

yes I think I see flashes when there is light on the room only.
I had an eye examination from a poressional eye doctor. He told me that I dont have any damages in my retina. I see these many tiny spots not every time but when 'you see the sun and like you close your eyes a little' there I see them those tiny spots.
I tried to forget them but i am still worried I could become worse by time.

At least you went for test...I see some small specs too ..usually at night when room light is on.....but not as much as teh floaters..

Anyway if retina is fine..keep 1 year checks so u stay updated..

Thanks I know now..read about it....I don't have that anyway.
I just did LASIK almost 2 years ago and hence the floaters.....retina, vision all fine.....just dry eyes from time to time...
