Floaters

I have had an eye floater for the past 3 months, my optometrist tells me it's only a floater and that there was no need to send me to an opthalmalogist, however this floater is getting worst, is it because it's moving around or is the matter getting worst.

Dear irishwomanca,

I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD and determine the status of your peripheral retina. It is important to obtain a dilated eye examination to make sure you have no retinal tears or detachment.  An appearance of flashing lights with your eyes closed, a curtain coming down or a sudden change in the number of floaters would require immediate care.

I have floaters in my eyes. I have vitreous degeneration which is causing them. I noticed a small floater in my right eye that slowly seemed to grow bigger over several months a few years ago. I seen an opthamologist about it, and he said it was vitreous degeneration. I would go seen an opthamologist if I were you for peace of mind. Optometrists aren't eye doctors. Good luck.
