Floaters

Hello,
I am a 34 yr ok'd female, slightly nearsighted and otherwise healthy. I have started to experience "floaters", mostly in my right eye and almost exclusively when I am outside in daylight or looking at a white or light colored background. I have read that this is normal as "we age" but it seems like I am not old enough yet? I am going to make an eye dr appointment after doing my research online, but just curious if anecdotally anyone else thinks this is a normal age for this? Started about four weeks ago. Thanks!

Floater can occur at any age.  It is more common as we age.  However, nearsighted people can experience floaters at a younger age.  Any new onset of floaters needs to be checked by an ophthalmologist.  New floaters can cause retinal tears and subsequent retinal detachment.
