Fluid filled sac in eyes

Hi. I have had some swelling in my left under eyelid on and off for quite a while now. It always starts when i wake up from sleep. It is on and off. Recently, i have started noticing fluid filled sacs in the white part of my eye. It is very uncomfortable. I am a little worried cause last time i saw my ophthalmologist about it, she said to do some cold compresses and they are not really helping. I need help. Please

If it ALWAYS occurs when you wake up from sleep it likely is recurrent erosion syndrome.  Use the search feature and read about this. Also go to my home page and read my journal posting in the last few days on this.  This is especially true if you have scratched that eye in the past.  Don't sleep under a fan, don't have air blowing across your face. Put a lubricating gel in your eyes at bedtime:  e.g. Genteal Gel; Refresh Liquigel; Systane Gel,  when you get up in AM don't rub your eyes. Rinse with warm water and instill regular artificial tears. This is far and away the most common cause. Other causes include an eye that does not shut over-night right  this can occur after Bell's Palsy, eyelid surgery.
