Flying with a gas bubble after retinal detachment

by jemccarthy, Jun 10, 2009 01:09PM
I had surgery including vitrectomy 8 weeks ago.  I still have some gas bubble and plan on flying July 3rd (another 3 weeks from now).  I am told you can fly if there is some gas bubble left.  Nayone have experience with this?

Dear jemmcarthy,

I would recommend that you speak with your eyeMD.  It is my understanding that you would not want to fly with a gas bubble; however, I am not a specialist in this area.
