For Dr. Hagan Crystalens and Medications

Is there any indication that certain medications will prevent clear near vision for Crystalens users?

I had the lens put in this past April.  While my distance and intermediate vision, except for computer use, is good, my near vision is not.  I was told before surgery that I wouldn't need glasses to read, which is the reason I paid the extra money for Crystalens.  Now that I still need glasses, the Crystalens rep is researching to find out if the medications I am taking for Depression/Panic Disorder might be the problem why I am having such bad results.  My surgeon has only started using Crystalens this past March.  She was waiting to make sure the new generation of the lens was good.  She said I am the only patient who is having a problem with near reading.

Thank you

Oh, you are the only patient with a problem - interesting huh?  The medication idea has no basis in the literature regarding the crystalens.  I would love to see the article if I am missing something here.

After I left her office I said to my husband that I bet at least 90%, if not more, of her patients were on some type of medication or other.  I also thought there is no way meds would only effect my near vision - they would effect ALL areas of my vision.

In her defense, she is not trying to get out of accepting her responsibility in this situation.  She is trying to find out what she can do to help me achieve what she promised me.  I really don't know why she wasn't better informed about Crystalens performance.

Thank you for your support.
